What is this?
A WorkScore is a confidential assessment of Frank's skills and achievements provided by colleagues who know his or her work.

Who picked the colleagues?
Frank made the initial list of colleagues and members of this group added other names.

Did Frank influence the results?
Frank is not able to alter any reviews of his or her skills, strengths and weaknesses, or professional style. But if someone wrote an achievement or a commendation that is inaccurate, badly worded, or duplicative, Frank can delete it so long as at least seven achievements or commendations remain.

How can I validate that Frank's WorkScore is accurate?
Contact colleagues directly. They volunteered their email and phone number and expect to hear from you. You will get much more information than references typically give because each person has spent time documenting Frank's skills and accomplishments.

I am still concerned that this may somehow be biased.
Fortunately, there is a quick, free way for you to test how objective a WorkScore is -- get one of your own. Nobody will see it but you. You can read the results to determine for yourself how accurate a WorkScore really is. Most managers discover that a WorkScore is not only accurate -- it is brutally accurate.

Why did Frank bother to get a WorkScore?
It is not easy to ask colleagues to confidentially review your strengths and weaknesses, but most candidates who get a WorkScore know that it is a better indicator of their skill and performance than resumes or references. Most are comfortable being accountable to colleagues for professional results -- which places them well ahead of most candidates. Also, a WorkScore indicates that Frank is very serious about this position.

Recommendations (5)

  • November, 2009 Frank is a gem. He is very analytical, which work well here and he arrived into a marketing organization that barely understood the questions when he already had the answers. He has a very professional, dispassionate personality, which is good, because he got some really dumb questions from some very senior people when he first got here. The challenge for Frank is that he doesn't really have a mentor or a way to grow much further here. He might be better off in a place that does a lot more online marketing than we do. — Carol Raynie Product Manager, Performance Diagnostics, Inc.
  • November, 2009 I recommend Frank wholeheartedly. He is professional, considerate, analytic, factual, goal-oriented, always prepared, and always on time with his commitments. He does terrific work and everybody likes working with him. In fact, I cannot think of a single person who has ever had a conflict with Frank. Great guy. — Domingo Franco CS Director, Performance Diagnostics, Inc.
  • November, 2009 Frank, I wanted to leave you a note on WorkScore thanking you for the March media campaign. Your targeting and timing were really outstanding and the results are brilliant. Since this is only your second or third big online campaign, you should be very happy about it -- we sure are. Thanks again! — Estella Juarez Director, Direct Marketing, Performance Diagnostics, Inc.
  • November, 2009 I would recommend Frank in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a rock solid online marketing professional. Frank gets it, he keeps up, and he keeps track. He sets hard goals for himself and figures out how to get it done. And the people who work with him really like him a lot, in part because he gives a lot of credit. The one thing Frank should not do however, is go to work for a boss who doesn't listen. Frank rarely challenges people, even if they are dead wrong. I'd wory about a boss with strong views not being able to get a lot of value from this guy. — Larry Carleton Tangerine Direct, agency for, Performance Diagnostics, Inc.
  • November, 2009 Frank is a rare find -- a guy who listens more than he talks -- and when he talks, he lets the numbers speak for themselves. He is extremely analytical and thoughtful about business goals. He is rigorous to a fault, but he doesn't lose many arguments. In fact, he never even gets in any arguments. One incident with Frank illustrates how he works. When he first came here, a C-level executive did not know the difference between paid and organic search results. No big deal, but he made an argument in front a group, criticizing Frank very directly, when the real problem was that he did not have a full grasp of what Frank was saying. Frank took the matter very calmly and quietly, as he often does. Most people would have been tempted to correct the boss who had criticized them, but Frank didn't do that. He simply backed up, restated his case in a way that clarified the missing information, and the meeting moved ahead smoothly. Afterwards, the executive sought Frank out and thanked him for the way he handled it! The truth is, most of us here have learned things from Frank -- he knows his stuff and he stays current. Many of us would love to see Frank step out a little more. He has some really good ideas, but he rarely puts them forward unless asked directly. Maybe this is a lack of self confidence, or maybe it is inexperience, but Frank would be a lot more valuable if he to put forward his conclusions, not just his facts. The joke of course is that most managers put forward their conclusions with very few facts to back them up. Frank is the reverse -- and you don't see that very often. — Greg Tildahl Marketing Specialist, Performance Diagnostics, Inc.
