What is this?
A WorkScore is a confidential assessment of Anna's skills and achievements provided by colleagues who know his or her work.

Who picked the colleagues?
Anna made the initial list of colleagues and members of this group added other names.

Did Anna influence the results?
Anna is not able to alter any reviews of his or her skills, strengths and weaknesses, or professional style. But if someone wrote an achievement or a commendation that is inaccurate, badly worded, or duplicative, Anna can delete it so long as at least seven achievements or commendations remain.

How can I validate that Anna's WorkScore is accurate?
Contact colleagues directly. They volunteered their email and phone number and expect to hear from you. You will get much more information than references typically give because each person has spent time documenting Anna's skills and accomplishments.

I am still concerned that this may somehow be biased.
Fortunately, there is a quick, free way for you to test how objective a WorkScore is -- get one of your own. Nobody will see it but you. You can read the results to determine for yourself how accurate a WorkScore really is. Most managers discover that a WorkScore is not only accurate -- it is brutally accurate.

Why did Anna bother to get a WorkScore?
It is not easy to ask colleagues to confidentially review your strengths and weaknesses, but most candidates who get a WorkScore know that it is a better indicator of their skill and performance than resumes or references. Most are comfortable being accountable to colleagues for professional results -- which places them well ahead of most candidates. Also, a WorkScore indicates that Anna is very serious about this position.

  • November, 2009 Let's cut to the chase: Anna would make an outstanding CFO of a mid-sized company and unless I get hit by a truck, she is unlikely to advance here any time soon. She and I agreed that if she hit her targets for four years that I would help her achieve her goal of becoming a CFO. She met her end of the deal and then some, so I intend to do the same. Anna Rossi is one of the most talented finance executives I have ever worked with. She not only is extremely well-trained and skilled in the fundamentals of finance, she has a love of operations that makes her much more effective than a plain vanilla finance leader. She has helped leaders of several of our operating units and market segment leaders to develop operating metrics that tied to key financial measures and many of them have been more successful as a direct result. One example: our media segment sells a customer loyalty and retention product to small and medium sized magazines. The product helps our clients understand and grow the attributes of the publication that customers find most attractive. Growth in this segment had stalled for three years, when Anna and her staff began meeting with our media team leaders. Anna quickly focused on our market share loss and asked for a thorough review of our product pricing. When the results were inconclusive, she actually went and visited three large accounts -- and I guarantee these folks had never seen a Finance VP from PDI before! After about 3 months of work, Anna proposed a new pricing program that reduced price for some of the smaller publications, created a premium service for some of the larger clients, and got t the product managers focused on some features we need to add to be fully competitive in women's and consumer magazines. Customers were thrilled, our sales guys wanted to throw her a party, and the business results were fantastic. Last year, media products led the company in sales growth and most of that was attributable to the new pricing. What is even more remarkable about this story is that a typical Finance VP would simply tell the marketing folks that they are not meeting their numbers. Anna never works that way. If there is a problem, she owns it and expects everyone else to do the same. Anna has an incredible work ethic, especially, it must be said, for a mother of a young child. She gets a lot out of her team mainly because she puts a lot into her team. She is, by some considerable measure, the most popular senior manager at PDI even though she has made some of the least popular decisions. I could go on. If you have questions, please call. Anna is a star and the next company to get her is very, very lucky. — Robbie Madison CFO, Performance Diagnostics, Inc.
  • November, 2009 Anna is pretty amazing to work for. She is young for her position, but this is not likely to be the last job she will ever have. She is very smart and knows finance cold -- accounting, treasury, raising debt or equity, she has done a lot and does it well. I guess the most surprising thing about Anna is that she does not judge people too quickly. I would bet that most people thought she would have replaced me -- but she didn't and the performance of me and my team has increased dramatically. The fact is, it is hard to run an accounting department without good executive direction and once we got it, we knew where to focus. Anna gave us the direction and the resources we needed and she helped troubleshoot some of the harder problems. For example, we historically wrote off bad debt slowly. It was the way our former CFO liked to do it and it meant that we always booked large reserves for bad debt. Anna changed the policy. Sounds like a small deal, but it helped us focus our collections. She then asked Marketing to give nice discounts on ten day terms to some of our weaker accounts. Now nobody in our industry pays in ten days, but about half of these accounts started doing it. Inside of two quarters, bad debt was a non-issue on the balance sheet and a a trivial factor on our P&L as well. When Anna renegotiated our line of credit, the bankers noticed the improvement and it helped us get a new line on outstanding terms. I have learned a lot from Anna. She is the first boss I have ever had who was younger than I am, but she has been one of the best managers I have ever had. — Russ Antman Director of Accounting, Performance Diagnostics, Inc.
  • November, 2009 Anna Rossi is easy to recommend -- she is one of the most respected and accomplished managers any of us have ever seen. She works hard, gets a tremendous amount done, communicates clearly, helps her team focus, gives credit generously, anticipates conflicts and resolves them, energizes teams, and generally makes things go. She wants to be a CFO, and most of us think that she will become a very good one. It's interesting to try to identify Anna's weaknesses. I can think of two. First, although there are several strong managers reporting to her, I am not sure that she has groomed a clear successor, which is important since she appears to be looking for a CFO position. A successor would benefit from some transition time with Anna and she would leave here with more comfort, I would imagine, if the transition was more clearly laid out. Second, Anna does not particiapate much in industry activities or in activities related to the finance profession. Some of this is because we are in a small town that is not near major cities. But she could both learn and contribute a lot to these events and were I her boss, I would encourage her in that direction. — Esman Gorsto Director, Financial Reporting, Performance Diagnostics, Inc.
  • November, 2009 Anna Rossi is an exceptional leader who would make an outstanding CFO. She sets the standard around here for leadership effectiveness --- I truly don't think that any of us would claim to be her superior in this respect. Anna has always been hard working and smart. She is well-trained in finance, and this is enormously valuable. During her years here, she has grown more focused, taking on fewer projects that have much higher impact. Partly this is due to the nature of turn-around work; when she arrived, there was a lot that needed fixing. It also reflects her increased maturity during her time here. We are aware that Anna will likely leave us, despite discussions at the board and senior management level about how to keep her here. We are advising her to be extremely selective in her next assignment. She is exceptionally talented and will be a huge addition to any management team she joins. — Adam Mansfield CEO, Performance Diagnostics, Inc.
